WaterData

Our team analyzed data from the Texas Water Development Board's Water Use Survey and the 2017 State Water Plan to understand past, present, and future water use across Texas metros.

Below are two dashboards sharing our findings. The first looks at the daily water use, measured as gallons per capita per day, or GPCD. The second dashaboard breaks down historic water consumption by source (ground vs surface water) and use (agriculatural, municipal, industrial, etc).

Historic Water Use

"Metro Summary" shows a high level view of water in the state. "Metro Sectoral Breakdown" shows trends in how water was used, with "MSA Breakdown" showing the same data but filterable by Metro. "Water Use Map" shows total water use over time by metro.

All figures are in Acre-Feet.
